The Los Angeles Children’s Museum
Fall 2023 - Studio 3031 - Urban Studio Final Project
As part of our Studio 3031 final project, my classmate, Dani Tirse and I reimagined a section of Northeast Downtown LA, creating a community-focused urban masterplan that addressed the area's lack of green spaces. For the architectural design final, I developed a 30,000 sqft 'catalyst building' to bring culture to the new area. Recognizing a need for children's attractions in the neighborhood, I chose to design a children’s museum.
The project explores a façade concept with a 10-foot depth, incorporating outdoor play spaces and interactive circulation paths on every floor. The program is essential such as a library, temporary exhibition spaces, and offices. The Museum also features four play large scapes using a set of playground blocks to create a random grid pattern. The design creates an engaging, family-friendly destination while supporting the master plan's vision.
